The camping experience has been, what these days people would call, “upgraded.” It has joined the 21st century. Now, there are different summer camp themes where children get involved in activities that are interesting, educational, and entertaining. The summer camp trends on an annual basis are changing into themes so that everyone goes home with new and unique magical memories for a lifetime. The traditional camp has the same set of activities year after year.
Moving away from the old way of having summer camp we’ll discuss some of the different summer camp themes enjoyed by kids and parents in modern day society:
1. Going Green. This summer camp theme’s purpose is to make kids aware of the environmental concerns our planet faces and what can be done to help reduce human being's ecological footprint. Some of the projects the kids do are planting trees, learning how to recycle, and how to reduce environmental pollution.
2. Amazing Race. This theme is a spin off from the popular reality TV series. This race consists of a series of challenges and activities that are in-line with the purpose of summer camp. Activities have to be done as quickly as possible within the rules. In this way children appreciate the value of group effort. 3. Olympics. This theme involves a series of sports and games that imitate the Olympic games. This theme consists of physical activity and collaboration to score high points. Running, swimming, soccer, kayaking, are just some of the activities where teams can earn points that add up as the games progress. The participants are teamed up as if representing the different countries in the Olympics. This type of summer camp theme is always a sure hit to campers that participate in it.
