Dieting is big business. In fact in North America alone it is a multi-billion dollar money-making machine. A new weight loss diet gets rushed onto the market every day - without a lot of attention paid to whether or not it actually works. Sure, physiologically it works. The weight loss diet is lower in calories, so in theory it works. But we're talking about whether or not it works in real life. And, unfortunately, most diets fail. Why?
Well, there are 3 reasons that most diets fail. If you want to really lose weight, you have to avoid these 3 pifalls. A weight loss diet can fail due to one of these reasons:
1 They Take Too Much Time
Let's face it, we're all super-busy these days. Nobody has time to spend hours making complicated recipes and prepping food for the next day.
We'd rather be enjoying our families or doing something fun or just relaxing from a stressful day. But a lot of weight loss diets demand that you spend time preparing food and having it ready to go. Or they have special ratios or rules you have to follow - which takes time and extra preparation.

That may work for the initial enthusiasm of your weight loss diet, but it gets old after a week or so. Losing weight and changing your eating habits is stressful enough. But taking extra time out of your day, that you probably can't spare to begin with, is asking too much. And it's a recipe for failure.
2 They Set Up A Feeling of Deprivation
Traditional diets are about less. Less food. Less calories. Less eating freedom. Less taste. And this focus on less sets up a feeling of deprivation. You feel like you're losing out. You're hungry, but all you get to eat is some wilted lettuce and carrot sticks. Please! That not only sets up deprivation - it's also downright depressing.
Humans aren't good when they feel they are missing out. They immediately want to fight back and get all that life has to offer them, and that extends to food. So if your weight loss diet is about deprivation and ‘less,’ throw it out and try another method of weight loss. Try to focus on more - more health, more confidence, more freshness, more vitality, and even more taste!
3 They Offer Bland, Tasteless, Food
Food was meant to be nourishing physically and psychologically. Despite what you may have been told, it's not wrong to want to actually enjoy delicious food. Unfortunately most weight loss diets give you bland, tasteless, food. And you will only go so long on food that tastes like mud before throwing off your diet for your old favorites like pizza and brownies.
Diets that don't cater to your specific tastes are a disaster waiting to happen. Try to find a weight loss diet that allows for your favorite foods. For example, if you're a chocoholic, there are diet plans that allow for chocolate treats. If you can't give up your glass of wine, there are plans for this too.
We all understand that we'll have to make some sacrifices. But it's a balance. Forget the cardboard-tasting food. Respect the fact that you eat for nourishment and enjoyment. If you can eat food you enjoy, then that's a weight loss diet plan you're more likely to stick with.
So those are 3 factors that can sabotage any weight loss diet plan you try.
The good news is that you have a lot of options that don't fall prey to these sabotaging influences. When you try your next weight loss diet, keep these 3 things in mind and you'll be well on your way to weight loss success!
